The LHI webcam only supports viewing via an IP camera application. There are many options out there, but the two covered here are iDMSS Lite from the Apple Store and gDMSS Lite from Google Play. The website no longer supports webcam viewing from a browser because of new security requirements.
This webcam is able to do the following:
- 1080p high definition video
- 30X optical zoom
- Full 360 degree pan (horizontal) and extended tilt (this is called PTZ for Pan, Tilt, and Zoom)
- Infrared night viewing
A keep goal for this webcam is to view races and even see sail numbers. With the 30X zoom, this has proven to be possible, at least for races not completely on the opposite side of the lake.
Here are some example images:

The camera performance is limited by the LHI internet connection, which is only ~2Mbps (due to available connectivity options to the island at this time). Therefore, the webcam framerate is limited to a couple of frames per second.
There is a high degree of latency in controlling the pan, tilt, and zoom (PTZ), up to 8 seconds. Therefore patience is required when controlling the camera. Swipe or click one or two times and wait for a response. Doing it multiple times more will eventually take effect and likely overshoot the desired zoom or location.
